Morrigan Shrine Project

The Morrigan Shrine is a sacred site planned to be created at Stone City Pagan Sanctuary. The shrine will be built at a site that has been dedicated to the Morrigan here at Stone City, atop a cluster of five red-encrusted boulders on a lonely hilltop to the west of the Henge, where offerings have been made to Her for the past several years. The plans for this shrine include a life-size statue of the Morrigan, an apolitical memorial to war dead which will honor both civilians and combatants fallen in war, with a place to inscribe the names of the dead, meditation seats, and an an altar at the feet of the Morrigan statue.

In 2010, Morpheus began work on the sculpture of the Morrigan in fiberglass, metal, and metal filler. The vision for the statue is a life-size figure of the Great Queen, with arms outstretched, a spear in one hand and the other open as if speaking a prophecy. She wears a cloak that billows out to the sides and in front of Her. Her hair is loose and tumbling as if in the winds of war. Viewed from the back, Her hair forms the head of a great raven, whose wings spread out to either side forming the back side of the cloak.
